Atelier Garneau, des pantoufles Produit du Québec
Buying local is great, but being able to easily recognize a product whose Quebec origins have been verified is even better!
For us, local manufacturing is nothing new. It has been at the heart of our story since 1977. Today, we’re especially proud that our products are certified Manufactured in Québec.
To us, this certification represents nearly 50 years of craftsmanship, the dedication of local artisans, and a commitment that has always remained the same: creating quality products while keeping our production right here in Quebec.
What Does the Manufactured in Québec Certification Mean?
Manufactured in Québec is one of three certification marks created by Les Produits du Québec to help consumers more easily identify products that are genuinely produced, manufactured, or designed here in Quebec.
Being a Quebec-based company isn’t enough to qualify for the Manufactured in Québec certification. Each product must meet specific criteria, and before a company can display the certification mark, its products must go through a verification process and the required supporting documentation must be provided.
It’s a rigorous process that helps consumers more easily recognize products that are truly made in Quebec.
Made in Quebec: A Choice That Has Defined Us Since 1977
Long before this certification existed, Atelier Garneau had already made the choice to manufacture its products right here in Quebec.
It’s in our workshop in the Eastern Townships that our team of skilled artisans brings our renowned products to life. Each material is carefully worked through the different stages of production, including cutting, gluing, and assembly.
Atelier Garneau is first and foremost a family story and a passion for craftsmanship passed down from father to daughter. Over the decades, the company has evolved, incorporated new technologies, and developed new models, all while preserving the artisanal expertise that helped build its reputation.
Even when manufacturing elsewhere could have offered a different path for the company, the choice has always been to continue designing, making, and distributing our products right here in Quebec.
Today, the Manufactured in Québec certification provides a concrete way to recognize this long-standing commitment.
Materials from Elsewhere, Expertise from Right Here
Being made in Quebec doesn’t necessarily mean that all raw materials must come from Quebec.
Since the very beginning, we have used sheepskins sourced from New Zealand and Australia, while our leather and suede come from Italy. These materials are carefully selected for their exceptional quality and for the worldwide reputation of their regions of origin.
Our artisans then transform these materials in our Quebec workshop, bringing our iconic slippers and accessories to life—products designed to be part of your everyday life.
This is an important distinction when it comes to the Manufactured in Québec certification. Raw materials do not necessarily have to be sourced exclusively from Quebec. Instead, a product’s eligibility is determined by the certification’s overall criteria, including the proportion of costs incurred here and the extent to which the product is primarily transformed in Quebec.
Behind Every Pair Are People from Right Here
Choosing a locally made product also means feeling closer to the people who make it.
Behind every pair of Atelier Garneau slippers are experienced artisans who know the materials, have mastered their craft, and pay close attention to every detail throughout the production process.
This expertise is part of what we are committed to preserving.
Manufacturing here allows us to keep a generations-old artisanal tradition alive while continuing to evolve it. Because to us, traditional craftsmanship and innovation are not opposites. Our workshop has modernized over the years, but people remain at the heart of how our products are made.
Buying Manufactured in Québec : A Choice That Matters
For Atelier Garneau, displaying the Manufactured in Québec certification is a source of pride, but it’s also a way to help you make a more informed choice.
When you choose one of our products made right here in Quebec, you’re choosing the comfort and quality that define Atelier Garneau slippers. But you’re also supporting local craftsmanship, a team of Quebec artisans, and a family-owned business that continues to believe in the possibility of creating exceptional products right here at home.
Since 1977, a lot has changed at Atelier Garneau. New models have been created, our workshop has evolved, and the company has passed from one generation to the next. But one thing has remained the same: our commitment to creating carefully made products right here in Quebec, designed to last.
Today, the Manufactured in Québec certification allows us to place a recognized mark on a story that has been unfolding for nearly 50 years.
So, the next time you spot the Produit du Québec logo on an Atelier Garneau product, you’ll know what it represents: a verified product, local craftsmanship, and a whole lot of Quebec pride.
