A benchmark in the field
Atelier Garneau designs and crafts superior quality sheepskin slippers and accessories. Working from its workshop in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, its team of artisans preserves and passes on a rich tradition of craftsmanship, creating pieces that inspire a return to the essentials. Since the company's inception, Atelier Garneau has used only sheepskins from New Zealand and Australia. Carefully selected from the world's most renowned brands, our sheepskins boast an incomparable sheen and the highest density on the market, giving each piece a refined look and a natural balance of lightness, comfort, and durability. Always seeking the finest and most luxurious materials, our leathers and suedes are renowned for their distinctive softness, suppleness, and silky feel.
A passion passed down from father to daughter
Atelier Garneau is first and foremost a love story for the arts and crafts, a passion passed down from father to daughter. As the current president so aptly puts it, "I like to say I was born in slippers!" Having grown up surrounded by arts and crafts fairs and getting involved from a very young age, Noémi was already offering her opinions on the different materials, colors, and new designs created by her father, François. Enriched by her contacts with artisans of all kinds, she discovered a wealth of talent, beautiful products, and inspiring people who dared to make a living from their art and their passion.
Preserving expertise, building the future
Proud of her father's achievements, Noémi believes it's always possible to live your dream, even starting from nothing. Sharing the company's values and philosophy, Noémi maintains its business model: Atelier Garneau continues to design, manufacture, and distribute its products in Quebec despite external pressures claiming that Chinese labor would be more profitable.
With her passion for art on one hand and her aptitude for numbers on the other, Noémi Garneau shifted her focus to management. After gaining experience in a large corporation, she decided to take on the role of "successor" within the company. According to her, "it's possible to have both an artistic flair AND a business sense." Atelier Garneau thus offered her the opportunity to put her management skills at the service of the arts.
By choosing to continue what her father had built rather than pursuing other opportunities, Noémi saw a chance to make Atelier Garneau her own business. A major challenge then began! From the moment she arrived, she molded the SME to her own style, always mindful of the need to remain competitive, constantly strive for excellence, and innovate. New technologies were introduced, including a computer-aided cutting table that allowed for the creation of new models more efficiently, as well as the implementation of a value-added production program. This program enabled the company to adapt to its evolving needs.
Founded in 1977, Atelier Garneau celebrated its 45th anniversary and it is under the leadership of Noémi Garneau that the company will continue to innovate while preserving the craftsmanship of her father.
